Understanding and Responding to Developmental Concerns

At LEAP Centre, we recognise the importance of identifying early signs that may suggest a child is on the autism spectrum. While we do not diagnose autism, our role is to provide support, guidance, and early intervention services for families who have concerns about their child’s development.

Recognising Potential Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder is characterised by challenges with social communication and interaction, as well as restricted or repetitive behaviors. Each child is unique, but common signs to be aware of include:

1. Social Communication and Interaction

2. Behavior Patterns

How We Support Families and Children:

Early Intervention and Support

Our therapists provide early intervention services that can be beneficial for children showing signs associated with autism, such as occupational therapy for sensory challenges and speech therapy for communication difficulties.

While we cannot diagnose ASD, we can guide families on appropriate next steps, including seeking a formal evaluation from a specialist if there are concerns about autism.

We offer individualised therapy plans that cater to each child’s needs, whether they are on the autism spectrum or not.

We provide resources, education, and support to families, helping them understand their child’s development and how to best support them.

We collaborate with healthcare providers and educators to ensure a cohesive approach to each child’s care.

Partnering with Families on Their Journey

If you have concerns about your child’s development and are seeking guidance or support, the LEAP Centre is here to assist. We believe in the importance of early intervention and are dedicated to working alongside families to support their child’s growth and development, whatever their needs may be.
